Chainwall-Mighty
Chainwall-Mighty is reinforced soil walls using chains, which has improved workability and lower cost than conventional methods by increasing the size of the walls and optimising the arrangement of reinforcement.
- NETIS: KK-170030-A
- Japanese Patent No. 3883551,5565993.
Larger walls and optimised placement of reinforcement
- - The walls have increased in size from 1.0 m (height) x 2.0 m (width) in the conventional method to 1.5 m (height) x 2.4 m (width).
- - The spacing of the reinforcement was optimised from 0.5 m (height) x 0.5 m (width) in the conventional method to 0.75 m (height) x 0.6 m (width).
Improvements
- - Improved workability due to larger wall and reduced number of chains installed.
- - Improved economic efficiency due to reduction in the number of chains and total length.
Almost the same reinforcement length and excavation volume as the conventional type.
EVALUATION SEISMIC CAPACITY OF REINFORCED CHAINWALL BASED ON CENTRIFUGE MODEL TESTS
- Centrifuge model apparatus
- Chainwall-Mighty 1/20 model
Situation after sinusoidal excitation
In centrifuge model test, Chainwall-Mighty was confirmed to have the same or better seismic capacity than that of conventional reinforced soil walls.
